Commentary: This is my first game report for MLB. I’m not sure what most people will be looking for from a report like this, so I just took a best guess at what people actually need to know. *Note* I do not project the circumstantial statistics (RBI, Runs scored, Pitcher Wins, etc).
Getting to the actual game: It is the performance after a perfect game. Everybody who thinks they know something about baseball will mention the name Johnny VanderMear (sp?) as a badge of honor that they know “deep” baseball trivia. So that will be entertaining to follow on ESPN.
Boston has been riddled with injuries this season, but they still have been able to score runs. Their Achilles heel is their bullpen. Boston’s win % increases dramatically if Doubront can get deep into the game. Oddly enough, even when accounting for a sub-par performance for Chicago due to travel considerations, they are still favored over a perennial power-house team. I guess the White Sox are better than I had thought.
